Senior Java Developer

This is a Hybrid role working from our Sofia office 2 days a week, offering the perfect balance of collaborative in-person teamwork and the flexibility of working from home. Key Aspects of the Role Include Architectural Leadership: Designing and delivering end-to-end backend subsystems, ensuring code is modular, beautifully structured, and highly scalable. Quality & Security Champion: Conducting thoughtful peer reviews, guiding testing strategies (unit, integration, and service-level), and implementing robust application security. Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentoring and coaching junior colleagues in both their technical craft and engineering processes, providing constructive, supportive feedback. Consulting & Communication: Translating complex technical trade-offs into clear, plain language for clients and stakeholders, and presenting confident, collaborative product demonstrations. Practice Growth: Sharing your wisdom across the practice and contributing to Waracle’s collective knowledge by sharing lessons learned. We are looking for a blend of the following experience and skills: 3+ years of experience working with Java. Deep expertise in backend architectures, including microservices and event-based systems. A strong understanding of industry-standard security (OWASP) and compliance principles (GDPR, SOC2). Proven experience optimizing application performance (such as threading, caching, and query tuning). The ability to guide and shape testing strategies across multiple levels. A collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring others and evaluating engineering trade-offs with empathy and balance.
